Hera is a 38 pound, approximately three-year-old female husky with striking baby blue eyes. She escaped from her foster home through a small space under a gate on August 20, 2009. Hera is a dog that was rescued from certain death. Her original owner was intending to shoot her and 23 other huskies. She was never trained or properly socialized. Prior to rescue, her life was spent in isolation on a short chain. She is gentle, but has no reason to trust people. In the months that followed her escape, she was spotted repeatedly and many, many capture attempts were made thanks to the combined efforts of dozens of caring volunteers. She was last seen in November 2009. Hera is extremely timid and runs as fast as she can whenever she is approached. She has a red collar, but no tags. We will keep her in our hearts and in our thoughts, and hopefully someone will eventually be able to catch her.
