We hope that you enjoy it as much as we do!

Special recognition for a very special SCARS volunteer!

SCARS is so proud to announce that the prestigious International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) Animal Action Award was presented by IFAW Canada Director, Olivier Bonnet to our president and co-founder Sylvia Christensen on Wednesday. November 14, 2007 at 1:00pm in Edmonton!

To read more about the award presentation, please visit The Edmonton Journal and the IFAW press release.

This award recognizes Sylvia"s unwavering dedication to the SCARS mission of reducing the number of homeless animals in Northern Alberta. In 5 short years, due to her dedication, SCARS has gone from being a fledgling organization with only 5 dogs, to the well-respected organization that, at any given time, has over 130 animals in care. To date, SCARS has found caring new homes for more than 1,600 mistreated and abandoned dogs.

IFAW’s Animal Action Awards are presented each year to people who have performed outstanding acts of kindness, bravery or dedication relating to wildlife or domestic animals. This is the fifth year the awards have been presented in Canada. For more information on IFAW, please visit their website.

The In Hope Animal Shelter video below is not SCARS specific, but it is a video that speaks volumes about why everyone should spay or neuter ones companion animals. Please click on the movie poster to watch.
