Update 23 March, 2017:
Well, I’ve had my first rehabilitation therapy appointment and am starting to work on getting stronger. I have lots of exercizes to do daily but I don’t mind. I’m a go getter and willing to do anything. Stay tuned for more updates. In the meantime if you think I might be the dog for you feel free to click on the red button. My new home would need to work with my foster home to learn what is needed for my rehabilitation. Oh, and I would love it if you had a canine buddy for me to play with. I do love to play with my buddies here. Stay tuned for more updates.
Foster mom says I have the best attitude and a great outlook on life. I absolutely love everyone. People, dogs, cats, I do mean everyone. I’m just a social butterfly and a happy, happy girl. You may remember me from the Facebook stories in December. My owner had simply moved away and neighbours were concerned that I would starve. When the nice volunteers from SCARS arrived they knew something wasn’t right. I could stand up and walk but frequently fell over. The volunteers took me to see the medical team at Guardian Veterinary cetner and X-rays revealed that I had a fractured T3 vertebra. Surgery wasn’t an option so I was moved to the Westlock Veterinary Center for some convalescence care so that I would heal on my own. I was also diagnosed with megaesophagus, which is a generalized enlargement of the esophagus. It might be a side effect of the injury but is very managable by 5 small meals a day. I do love my food . I loved my time at the clinic and all of the attention that I got from the staff. I really was sad to say goodbye to them but I’m starting to do better and the time has come for me to start my rehab. I’m still a little wobbly but I’m a go getter. I’m doing great at my foster home. I have 2 resident dogs and a foster sister to hang out and play with. I also get lots of love from my foster parents. I start my thereapy next week and will need to be here for a while until I start to build some mussle and get stronger. After that, hopefully I will be able to find my forever home and start the next chapter of my life. Foster mom will keep you updated on my progress.
